Drama Therapy Groups for Kids &Teens with Asperger Syndrome
Through theater games, improvisation, role play and drama therapy
techniques, group members will work on creativity and spontaneity while improving
social skills, increasing self-esteem and experiencing positive connections
with others. Led by two licensed creative arts therapists with extensive
experience working with children with special needs, this eight week drama
therapy group is specially designed for kids and teens who have difficulty
in social situations because of Asperger Syndrome or other social
challenges.
DAY AND TIME:
Thursday evenings from 4:45-6:00

$425 for 8 week session

Facilitators:
Heidi Landis, RDT, LCAT, CP/PAT, CGP is a Registered Drama Therapist,
Licensed Creative Arts Therapist, Certified Psychodramatist and Certified
Group Psychotherapist. Heidi is the program manager at Creative Alternatives
of New York, where she runs a variety of drama therapy groups. She has been
running groups for young adults on the Asperger spectrum at the JCC in
Manhattan for the past three years. In addition, Heidi is the Drama Therapy
Liaison at the Psychodrama and Creative Arts Therapy Institute in NYC where
she is also in private practice. Heidi is an adjunct professor The College of
New Rochelle and a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University and The Moscow
Art Theater School.
Kristin Long, RDT/BCT, LCAT is a Registered Drama Therapist/Board
Certified Trainer and a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist. Kristin also
completed a four year post-graduate program at the Institute for Expressive
Analysis in New York City, where she maintains a private practice working with
children, adolescents, adults and families. She has facilitated drama therapy
groups for children and adolescents in a variety of settings, including
hospitals, day programs, schools, and after-school programs. Kristin is a
co-founder of Sign of the Times Theater, a company providing children’s
theater productions and workshops in American Sign Language and English.
