Therapeutic Spiral Model(TM) (TSM) was developed over the past 25 years to work 
with people experiencing extreme stress, trauma or violence in their lives (Hudgins
In Press, 2009,  2002, 2000).  TSM combines a clinical method of clinical psychological,
neurobiology, modified psychodrama, and shamanistic energy medicine to address the
body-mind-heart-spirit effects of trauma and violence in one's life.  We offer both
training for professionals and healing services for people wanting to find their
 own resources.

About Me
Dr Kate Hudgins is a clinical psychologist, board certified trainer, educator and
practitioner of psychodrama, sociometry and group psychotherapy.  She is also a 
a hands on healer trained in shamanistic energy medicine by a Mohawk medicine woman.
Mostly, she brings love and light to her work with healing survivors of trauma, 
violence and the resulting problems such as eating disorders, and depression. having
walked her own personal and professional journey for the past 30 years, she has 
created this unique model of healing that has touched thousands around the world.
Dr Kate as she is fondly called is an internationally recognized trainer to treat
PTSD and has written 4 books (In Press, 2009, 2002, 2000) with her newest due out
in early 2010 "Stories from the Frontlines:  Clinical and Community Actions Using
the Therapeutic Spiral Model Around the World".

Greetings!
Happy New Year!  I want to start 2010 by wishing you a year filled with love and
 light--mostly importantly in this time when many people are still struggling with
the stress of the recession and fears for their families in into the future.  I 
believe it is in the darkest of times that we find our ability to reach for our 
highest lighted selves.  After working in the field of trauma and violence for 25
years, I have seen over and over that with enough strength and vitality to build
 your spontaneity and creativity in the darkness, you can also build your light 
stronger. Join me in seeing this vision for yourself, family, friends, clients and
the world.  We can make it happen when we join together as a like minded community!
 I have seen in more than a dozen countries I have worked in in the West, the Middle
East, Africa, and Asia.  We are all the same as humans.  We all hurt.  We all love.
 We can also all hate and destroy.  Come with us on this years' journey of love,
 forgiveness and compassion.  Find and live your best self.

Coming Home Again
In case you have wondered where has Dr Kate and have TSM gone over the past 10 years
in the USA, I have been working primarily in Asia. In 1999 I was asked to conduct
a workshop at a conference in Taiwan which turned into a 10 year journey through
 the East including Taiwan, mainland China, Malaysia, and Japan.
The journey has been deeply rewarding. Dr Lai Nien-hwa is now the first certified
TSM trainer in Taiwan and leads a TSM group that integrates art therapy into her
 model of working with women and children who suffered domestic violence. Since 
2004 I have spent up to 6 months a year working in Asia. In 2008 I presented at 
the Pacific Rim conference for the International Association of Group Psychotherapy
& Psychodrama in Matsue, "the Place of the Gods" and returned in 2009 to conduct
 the 2nd TSM training group in Toyko. I feel in love with Japan with a Buddha around
every corner. The picture above shows the Tokyo Association of Psychodrama Group.
While I have loved this tranformational journey into Asian cultural of teaching 
TSM treatment to psychologists there, it is time to come home to my western roots.
I will still continue to offer a few workshops a year in Asia, but as you can see
from my workshop schedule at www.therapeuticspiral.org I am now offering new workshops
in Charlottesville, Va as well as in beautiful San Francisco, Boughton Place, NY,
Ottawa Canada and In England. I am loving working in English again and working with
original TSM teams!
The new book coming out "Stories from the Frontline: Clinical & Community Actions
Using the Therapeutic Spiral Model Around the World" (In Press) reflects the many
paths TSM has taken over the past 25 years since it's inception. TSM Action Teams
are alive in many private practices and teams in Australia, Canada, China, England,
South Africa, Taiwan and the USA and the authors share their wonderful work showing
the impact of TSM around the world.

Training Series

I think this picture of the August 2009 Director's Practice Training Group held 
in Charlottesville, Virginia shows the intimacy and trust of group members at the
end of a TSM workshop.
TSM training groups offers theory on the use of our clinically modified system of
psychodrama to work with trauma. Based on the latest research in neurobiology and
attachment theory, TSM shows how to create containment and resiliency building to
face and heal the effects of trauma and violence in your and your clients lives.
Most importantly for many students, who come with their own history of trauma, is
that our groups provide a safe, loving, nurturing environment where you can discover
your own enlightenment and power as a healer.
This year we begin the level one series that teach the basic core interventions 
demonstrating how to safely use doubling and role reversal with clients and protagonists
with a history of trauma. Held in Charlottesville, San Francisco, and Ottawa, Canada.
Join us as we form a group of participants that already include several shamans,
 psychologists, social workers, couneslors, peace activists and other leaders also
interested in psychodrama and action healing.

Personal Healing

I want to thank all the clients and protagonists who have shared their personal 
healing stories with me over the 25 years I have worked with TSM. When people ask
me why do I do trauma work, my answer is because I get to witness such deep healing.
There is truly nothing more incredible than to be part of a healing group as someone
finds the god within, the true untouched "sleeping awakening child" or they reach
true peace from their past and find new meaning for the future and you feel the 
trauma fully lift. I have had the privilege to witness many miracles!
Now that I am also integrating my teaching from shamanistic energy medicine and 
hands on healing into clinically driven psychodrama, I find the work only becomes
more powerful and healing. Following the learnings from neurobiology and attachment
theory, we do not overwhelm the brain with uncontrolled catharsis but instead teach
people how to release long dissociated feelings safely in a conscious manner so 
there is no risk of retraumatization.
Healing the Body Series  March through November 2010
Quarterly Workshops Held in Charlottesville & Philadephia
Dr Kate and Colleen Baratka, MA, RDT, TEP  will continue their 2009 healing series
for women recovering from eating disorders or struggling from eating issues related
to stress.  March and September will be in Charlottesville while summer and November
workshops will be in Philadelphia.  All workshops will have full TSM teams to allow
in-depth transformational healing with safety and containment.  See workshop calendar

Surviving Spirits:  Healing Post-traumatic Stress Disorder
