PD with autism; Claudia Pfohl

Dear Claudia,

If you are interested in autism, it may be useful to read the book :
"Mirroring People - The New Science of How We Connect with Others" of
Marco Iacoboni (ISBN 978 90 5712 276 7).

For me, this book explained a lot why PD is so effective.

The book deals about mirror neurons in the brain.

These mirror neurons are discovered in the last 10 years.

Immediately if you see someone acting and you are interested in this
person ( for example watching someone playing a game on television),
your brain mirrors the activities of this person. This goes in split
seconds. You feel his emotions and judge his aims as if you were him.

This is completely different from cognitive theories of learning in
which we deduct from earlier experiences and learn gradually to relate
to emotions of others.

There is no difference in seeing and doing for mirror neurons. Right
from birth, mothers and children are imitating each other. This is the
way how they relate.

Autism is considered a defect in mirror neurons, in the book called
'broken mirrors'.

Moreno's doubling might give a confirmation that you exist. Mirroring
(feeling the tele of others) might be difficult in autism.

So I think that in recent neurological research psychodrama gains
terrain.
