The ABE Does Recognize Training Hours For and From Drama Therapists

Dear All,
New ideas are wonderful, but please check the facts before getting excited by a "new" idea that is in fact already a reality.  The American Board of Examiners in Psychodrama, Sociometry and Group Psychotherapy does credit some training hours from drama therapists.  Any Registered Drama Therapist (RDT) automatically receives 100 hours of credit toward the requirement of 780 hours of professional training in psychodrama, sociometry and group psychotherapy.  We have a number of highly talented trainers who hold certification from us, and registration from Drama Therapy.  Naturally, all the hours for a Board Certified trainer also fully count towards the psychodrama certification requirements.    In addition, some of a drama therapist's internship may also be applied to the supervised experience requirement if the internship meets the standards.
In the future, it would be helpful if individuals would review the requirements for certification at psychodramacertification.org prior to commenting upon them.
Sincerely,
Dale Richard Buchanan, Ph.D., T.E.P.

Executive Director, American Board of Examiners in Psychodrama,

Sociometry and Group Psychotherapy

Hi Tessa, and others.
So, short of merging psychodrama and drama therapy---an idea that has been explored
and backed away from, but perhaps should be re-considered again in the future---
What about giving credit to drama therapists for experience with psychodrama
trainers?
 (and vice versa?)

          Warmly, Adam
