              We are looking forward to ringing in the year 2010 with a number of exciting trainings and intensives in locations ranging from our "home base" of Highland, NY, to our first-ever training in St. Croix, US Virgin Islands.

              Location: Boughton Place, Highland, NY

              During this highly experiential workshop participants will learn and practice the psychodramatic method, its structure, skills and techniques such as: 

                a.. doubling 
                a.. role reversal 
                a.. concretization 
                a.. warm ups 
              through structured exercises, vignettes and full psychodramas. Group members will have the opportunity to learn the 'nuts and bolts' of directing psychodrama as they work on issues from their own lives in a safe and supportive environment. They will have the opportunity to try on the roles of : 

                a.. protagonist 
                a.. auxiliary 
                a.. group member 
                a.. director 
              Group sociometry will be explored in action and sociometric interventions explained. Advanced students may have the opportunity to direct. Didactic sessions and thorough processing of the psychodramas will be included. 

              Students at all levels of experience are welcomed. 
              Provides 34 hours towards certification by the American Board of Examiners in Psychodrama, Sociometry and Group Psychotherapy

              THE ART OF EXPLORATION

              Location: St. Croix, US Virgin Islands

              Join Judy Swallow and Susan Quinn, along with 14 other co-explorers, for 5 luscious days of creativity including psychodrama, sociometry, Playback Theatre and artful play! Bring your s-factor (spontaneity) and your bathing suit for the winter refreshment that you deserve! .We will meet for morning and evening sessions, with lunch and afternoon activities on your own. Breakfast will be provided and we will share delicious catered dinners together, within walking distance of the beach. 25 psychodrama hours can be earned for this workshop.

              The fee includes 5 nights at Northside Valley Eco-Village, breakfast, dinner and workshop fees. Plane fare, ground transportation and lunches are not included.

              Three 5-Day Trainings in 
              February, May and August 2010

              Location: Boughton Place, Highland, NY

              Core Training in Psychodrama, Sociometry and Group Psychotherapy is an intensive training experience for professionals and students in the fields of mental health, substance abuse and recovery, creative arts therapies, religion, human services, personnel management, nursing and medicine, group facilitation and education. This year-long format creates a community of learners committed to personal and professional growth. It provides a safe place in which to develop spontaneity as a director, auxiliary, protagonist and group member.

              Each year special topics such as the use of psychodrama in individual therapy, action methods with children and adolescents, spontaneity training, working with resistance, sociodrama, the use of the body and working with trauma may be offered. There will be many opportunities for student directing.

              Certification and Continuing Education Units (CEUs)


              The Continuing Education Units (CEUs) provided by most of these trainings are accepted toward national credentialing by the National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC), the National Board of Certified Counselors, and towards re-certification by the National Registry of Group Psychotherapists. MFT, CSW and Drama Therapy CEUs are pending. Most HVPI workshops offer credit towards national certification by the American Board of Examiners in Psychodrama and Group Psychotherapy and can be counted toward Drama Therapy Registration.
