Howdy---was just in contact with one of the authors
of our 2007 anthology, Interactive & Improvisational Drama: Varieities of
Applied Theatre and Peformance. Just for the record, we should note that a good
deal of what Moreno would call "sociatry" is indeed being pursued by
practitioners of applied theatre, drama therapy, drama in education, programs of
social and emotional learning in schools, and related fields. Many of these
folks have hardly heard of Moreno, though I've made attempts to share this
background.
      Historically, Moreno
has had some influence in many of these efforts, but others have also had some
similar insights and a good deal of influence. Point is that we should not
presume that we are the only keepers of this light, and that we might both give
something and learn something by building bridges with our related fields. It is
fun to be part of a complex ideas whose time has come, though!
