Dear Psychodrama friends,

     As Mother's Day approaches, this is sent as a reminder that our own Zerka, mother of psychodrama, will celebrate 92 years on June 13. You may wish to send a card to this incredible woman who is such an inspiration to us all.
    
     We will be celebrating with Zerka in her home in Charlottesville during the June workshop from the evening of June 19 to Sunday afternoon, June 21 (details in attachment).  I hope we will have a good group. If you are interested in coming, please let me know. Zerka is doing very well and her workshops are really special.

    Recently, Zerka's son Jonathan wrote an article about what his mother, Zerka, wanted for Mother's Day.

We will be hearing from Jonathan at our next ASGP conference in Philadelphia, 2010. He will be speaking from his expertise as both a psychodramatist and a bioethics expert who is often consulting in the White House and speaking on various news programs about current ethical issues. 
 
    Jonathan wrote a very nice summary of his mother's health experiences in the last nine years. He wrote,   "Between 2000 and 2005 she underwent three hip surgeries, including two to “re-do” failing implants, preceded by weeks of immobilization and followed by rehabilitation. Today that third prosthetic is not in a perfect position, so (as is her way), she has sensibly agreed with her surgeon to live a sedentary life to avoid further surgery.

And I haven’t mentioned the amputation of her right arm at age 39 due to a sarcoma, or the fact that she taught herself to drive and sew with one arm, or that she re-read all of Proust in French two years ago, or that she is a world-famous psychotherapist who still works and still writes. The memoirs will be published next year. I challenge anyone reading this to find a tougher or more independent nonagenarian than my mother. My wife and daughter find her a formidable feminist act to follow."
