I got this sad information from a colleague, Mag. Barbara Pfaffenwimmer in Vienna.

Dearest friends it is with great pain that I share with you this news. Augusto Boal had passed away in his
sleep early the morning of May 1st at his home in Rio.  He was probably exhausted from his trip to France, had been battling Leukemia, and was just tired.  Please send your thoughts, prayers and love to his family (Cecila his wife and his sons of course), and to the communities around the world who loved and knew him.  Let's imagine a celebration everywhere in the world where his amazing work has influence and inspire all of us.  I send you my love,
