and its converse "Whoever saves a life, it is considered as if he 
saved an entire world". Jerusalem Talmud, Sanhedrin 4:8 (37a) are 
both manifestly absurd if taken literally but both point to a more 
subtle truth which, if explained in cold prose, would be less 
persuasive  .
