Psychodrama Section in IAGP

I really appreciate your response Manuela. I met you at the PIM conference
in Melbourne if my memory serves me correctly.
With hopefully, a touch of the megalomania NORMALIS, I have thought of
Psychodrama offering the most comprehensive form of therapeutic intervention
and that the spontaneous "experiencers" have to wait for the rest to catch
up.
It saddened me to hear that you have had to cool your heels but then that
is the role of the good psychodrama group leader. It is all in the warm up
and we can only go as far as the warm up allows. If we want to create
adequacy.
I will use the web site some more.

Subject: Psychodrama Section in IAGP

Dear All

I think it is a very good idea that we can unite efforts worldwide and
cooperate to have a good Psychodrama and Sociodrama International Calendar.
We do have the IAGP Psychodrama Announcement List that has been operating
with the announcements that the 450 members of this list send and also with
the ones that Adam, Horatio, Manuela and others try to put together.

IAGP website www.iagp.com does have a section on Events, for the IAGP events
and also with a link to the website of Haim Wernberg about Group
Psychotherapy http://www.group-psychotherapy.com/conferences.htm ,that has
a calendar for all the group events in all the schools, including
Psychodrama and Sociodrama.

About to end in August my role as the Chair of IAGP Psychodrama Section I
would like to share that it has been a rich and delicate role that also
involves not to push too hard and deliberately with the psychodrama movement
within IAGP since this can be a threat to the IAGP goals and bring an
unbalance to the IAGP dynamics that in its own goals involves a balance
among the different schools of group psychotherapy, and now also group
processes, involved.

Any psychodramatist in the IAGP Board (and we have been some) knows that to
be effective in our role we have to refrain our usual passion and enthusiasm
and try to adapt to a common language within the culture of IAGP that also
involves other 4 sections of different theoretical approaches and a cultural
conserve that is different then our usual one. Of course that we
psychodramatists may and should also contribute to the IAGP evolution and I
think our presence in the IAGP has been essential for the fulfilment of one
of Moreno and others vision, about the cross- fertilization and sharing of
different group methods for a better world.

Because in fact there is no International Psychodrama Organization, which
doesn`t happen in most of the other sections in IAGP, the psychodramatists
tend to expect the IAGP Psychodrama Section to perform that role but it is
important that we all realize that we do have a specific scope of action
within IAGP.

Even within these limitations, the IAGP Section has tried to increase the
psychodrama mouvement with initiatives such as networking, organize books,
promote scientific research, support Moreno Museum and contribute to the
organization of many events and conferences to promote Psychodrama and
Sociodrama in the world. Being a part of the Scientific Comitteee of IAGP
Congresses to ensure that we do have good quality presentations , from all
schools and culture also has been a very hardworking and challenging task.

I trust that we will continue to cooperate in the future and bring
psychodrama and Sociodrama further in this time of both crisis and hope for
the world.

Warm Regards

Manuela Maciel

I agree. The idea of a proper calendar is excellent and the IAGP PD
section will surely follow it up in the future working on that. Thanks!

On the other hand I want to say that Manuela Maciel, the actual chair of
the Psychodrama section of the IAGP, has done a marvellous job during
these last years sending advertisements of all mayor PD events worldwird
by the section announcement list. You can share this list without being
obliged to become a member of IAGP yourself
(http://www.iagp.com/lists/psychodramalistinfo.htm). As she will leave
the office in august I feel a deep gratitude for her work.
