I have had an interesting week since the post I made about "34 million refugees" and psychodramatist's responding. A number of people who wrote are interested in ways to connect to the big picture. Here are a few of the suggesions I made from what I am doing.
1) "rattle your networks: (a) I called a person I know who works for our local refugee resettlement office. She is doing an all day workshop tomorrow for volunteers to teach english. I signed up. From there, who knows? (b) Another friend's son in law used to work for the State dept. I am calling him to get info on how and who helps with the refugees.
2) Check out MixedInk http://www.vimeo.com/2674991
This is a free service where people can write opinions on a variety of subjects (there are deadlines the writers set) in a collaboration with known and unknown interested others. The above web address is for the short tutorial. People borrow each others text for their "version" and the system gives the person credit. And people vote on the submissions. The final one goes forth to (a) the media, (b) a government agency, or other selected site.with all the contributors listed. Great resource.
Let's share our ideas. Tell one another how things are developing.
