Beyond The Silence & Fury: Action Methods For Treating Eating & Body-Based Disorders

Presenter: Linda Ciotola, M.Ed., CHES, TEP

The struggle with food, weight, and appearance reflect the inability to voice and safely discharge feelings and emotional pain. The body becomes the battleground for this war of self-expression where Clients become silent and stuck in self-destructive patterns. This workshop offers methods using psychodrama structures that create a healing environment of safety and connection so that clients can break free from these destructive patterns.

Learning Objectives:

    --Learn specific action-based interventions created specifically for clients with eating/body-based issues;
     --Observe methods to help clients develop empathy for their bodies and to make meaning around their destructive thoughts, feelings, and behaviors;
    --Enhance readiness to apply these methods with clients through safe director-supported practice.
