Hello everyone,
Yes my preference is to have a link provided for those political/ social issues that are interesting or exciting. I like the opportunity to choose to follow up on a topic.
I think that the list could be used to develop ideas around working with these issues. For instance, if we look at the issue of goverment intrusion into private life... Are we seeing this reflected in the personal psychodramas that we are part of? What are some of the more helpful Sociodramatic techniques for exploring these kinds of themes?
Adam says:
"Even if we do claim sociatry, there should be some more descriptions about how exactly and specifically Morenian methods are being used---not vague ideas about how they might someday be used in some imagined, "maybe someone will come up with a way to..." fashion. "
Perhaps Moreanian "Sociatric" thinking is still so undigested that it would be alright to run out some imaginations or future projections of the work.
I sometimes cringe and go for the delete button when I see a biased (even biased in the direction of my personal world view!) political diatribe or a blatant self promotion. I was heading in that direction today when the idea came to me that it would be more rewarding to take in the material and work a bit with it.
So, a bit of brainstorming...
The theme of "the individual in relation to the collective" comes to mind. (There are many other possible themes, of course.) This conjures images of the post apocalyptic novels. One of my favorites is Anthem by Ayn Rand. ( And, of course 1984.) We can begin with "bibliodramatic" enactments from the novel, move into sociodramatic exploration around the emerging themes, and do the protagonist centered psychodramas which are called forth. Finally, we could work out some future activist projections.
I work at a college for young adults with developmental disabilities. We do work like this together with the students and co-workers. Themes of self-advocacy, Independence/interdependence, questions about social policy and regulations, or "does my voice count" often surface.
Starting from the same place, in another group, the Bush regime's policies which fostered systematic erosion of privacy and individual rights may well come to the forefront.
Warm regards,
Roy
