I agree it is in a grey area. I understand why it was sent out. Perhaps we could all consider the viability of posts and give a "heads up" sentence or two and leave a web address people could use to learn more about the topic. I prefer this to people dropping off the list who are "purists". Ann Hale

Dear Ed and all,
This piece moves me to question what we want and do not want to be included on this listserve. Some other inputs from others will be needed to help clarify.
It seems to me that there's a grey area: Sociatry gets idealistic, but blurs over into indignation about this or that political issue. It seems possible to fill this listserve content with various people's thoughts about one or another issue that has very little if anything to do with psychodrama, sociodrama, sociometry, group psychotherapy, etc.
Even if we do claim sociatry, there should be some more descriptions about how exactly and specifically Morenian methods are being used---not vague ideas about how they might someday be used in some imagined, "maybe someone will come up with a way to..." fashion.
For example, in this last message from Ed:
with the subject: Fwd: As we enter the Obama era, there are many unanswered questions about the full extent of the domestic spying that took place under Bush, including whether it is still going on
A. I think we should try to edit subject lines
B. Ed says: these are issues of sociatry in my opinion.
Adam: I think this stretches the definition to and beyond the edge. What do others think?
Ed, can you spell out in any specific way how there's anything that we can do about this from a Morenian viewpoint other than to get out and work with our local political committees to (write letters to congress; promote the election of people who we feel will support our political preferences, etc.?).
C. Might this long forwarded message be simply alluded to as a URL (website) that we could look up if we wanted to? Why should all of the content of this long screed be in the body of our email?
Warmly, Adam

On Jan. 21, former U.S. intelligence official Russell Tice appeared on MSNBC's "Countdown with Keith Olbermannn" and broke a sobering bit of news that, sandwiched between Obama's inauguration and sweeping executive orders, went largely ignored by the media: Under the Bush administration's notorious warrantless spying program, not only did the NSA eavesdrop on millions of Americans, it turns out it specifically targeted "U.S. news organizations, reporters and journalists." .... etc. for several pages
