For me science and mysticism are noth true. I see a big umbrella under which these two opposites can co-exist and thus inform each other.
Like Ed I have had some profound shamanic healing experiences, for me w a Mohawk healer that actually helped infuse the first years of tsm development w spirituality. I have absolutely NO scientific understanding of the many spiritual experiences I have had.
I also use acupuncture, cupping, massage and yoga as a regular part of my health care. A story from china. I arrived in beijing many years ago with a resistant bronchitis I was on a steroid inhaler since antibiotics etc had not worked. For several days students gave me teas, lozenges etc to help. Having gone to the ER in china 2x from reactions to things I had no idea what it was. the next day I was coughing so bad w the added pollution I actually fainted. They took me to chinese doctor and he did cupping on me. That is placing glass cups on my back n turning a switch so they did suction. Left awful round bruises on my back but my bronchitis lifted within the hour!!!!!
So I am a firm believer in "that which is not known". AND as the developer of tsm I know the need for science to provide evidence based tx to researchers.
An interesting discussion.
