Ah,Dear Adam,I knew when I wrote this pompously sounding:" In spirituality- the messenger and the messagwe should unite"-that if I read it - I'd wince...Who is the one deciding what constitues wisdom?And where there is such perfection among us mortals? Moses was a killer,Jesus had few angry outbursts..etc...Dalai Lamma is all sincerity-I must admit,from studying with him -,he is so remarkeably real,....I was thinking of the ideal: which like a horizon,the closer we come to it the further it recedes.,which teaches people who are far advanced -humility.I have a long way to go.2. In kaballah there is a clear distinction between knowledge(daat),Understanding(Bina)and Wisdom (Hohmah).In St LuisI am giving a workshop trying ng to concretize Kabbalistic terms via psychodrama. Please come! anath

Dear Anath, you bring up an interesting point:
      Al Einstein made this noble quote about what he realized about our interdependence (quote sent by Connie); You commented earlier today:

It is most interesting,when you read his biography (ies)  to note, that while he extended his compassion to  the whole world,he  showed very little of it  to his immediate family.... Another illusion?!  Anath;
    Patti Desert responded,

Yes, Anath, I was thinking the same thing with some criticism of Einstein creeping in. And I then recalled the old adage--"listen to the message not the messenger." He does give us a wonderful message doesn't he? Patti And then you responded: I am listening to the message-in case of spirituality -the messanger and the message should unite. Then we know: It is wisdom, not knowledge. anath So, my response: While we agree on so much, I am uncertain about your point. It may have to do with the authority granted, or even when and for whom we agree speaks wisdom. Do I know anyone whose life is so unblemished?
        I see Einstein's status as giving enough authority to read, his wording enough poetry and nobility to feel it's pretty good. I may want to use it. Where I agree is that just because it's Einstein who said it, it doesn't make it more (or less!) true!
        And then, of course there's Moreno, great in some ways, but also in many roles vulnerable to an "ad hominem" argument (that logical fallacy that suggests that if there is something wrong with the speaker, the policy advocated or idea is necessarily weakened, aside from the actual strengths or weakness of the policy advocated or idea itself.
     I'm willing to grant some imperfections in those who have advocated some of my favorite quotable lines.
             The part that is intriguing is whether I want to grant anyone ever the status of wisdom.
      I think wisdom-ing is something that is more or less well done.
               So that's just about that part of the discussion. Warmly, Adam
