spirituality and politics

I liked Regina's take on the issue of stresses within politics and religion as related to the cultural conserve. I think of spirituality as more related to the right brain and politics as more a domain of the left brain. However, when spirituality developes into an organized religion then there are more cultural conserves. And, as political systems become more restrictive, less inclusive, and unjust the more challenges surface, the more people begin to explore alternatives to the base of power.

I think of Moreno's Canon of Creativity in terms of right and left hemisphere of the brain. The left brain, the more linear, serves practicality...how we manage the complexity of life. The right brain, is the seat of emotions where experiencing our individuality is the adventure of becoming...warming up, searching, experiencing. In the discussion of politics and spirituality there needs to be access to and modification of both the search process (search for meaning, spirit, humanity, etc) and the process of governance in order that "we all shall survive".

The chaos in the world seems to me to be around issues of freedom of religion and freedom from religious oppression. When your beliefs are different than the law of the land, then remaining tied to the land becomes full of conflict. I used to hate the "love it or leave it" mentality, either or thinking. In order to explore althernatives and inclusiveness there needs to be agreement to a proces of dialogue which doesn't use "power over" dynamics to solve things.

This is where psychodramatist's can offer a process, as we have built into our method, the separation of reality (the stage) for exploration of these areas of conflict. And, the Canon of creativity to guide the process.
