Professional Workshop: Changing For Good
Change is possible, but not everyone easily embraces change. In this workshop, we will take a creative look at the six stages of the change process, as outlined in the 1995 book, "Changing For Good" by James Prochaska, John Norcross, and Carlo Diclement. With a variety of action exercises, we will explore how to assess whether or not a person is ready for change – even when he or she says so – and how to guide a person through the process of change. The program is suited for all helping professionals who promote change within their clients or patients, not just mental health professionals, as well as others with an interest in change including community leaders and activists, educators and others.
In this workshop, led by Karen Carnabucci, MSS, LCSW, TEP, you will learn:
▪ The basics of change theory.
▪ How to assess change within an experiential format.
▪ How to explore resistance in a positive, rather than pathological, way.
▪ How to identify the readiness of clients to take action.
>From 9 a.m. to noon, with three continuing education and psychodrama hours. Tuition is $35, with registration due by Thursday, Feb. 26; contact or e-mail Karen <mailto:karenc at wi.rr.com?subject=Changing%20For%20Good%20workshop%20on%20Feb.%2027> at (262) 633-2645.
