Jen sounds like you and Herb are doing great work.
I've been working in the Middle East for nearly a year using Dynamic
Theatre, as well as, like you, other expressive arts. Obviously this
part of the world is 95% Muslim, we work mainly with the women, it's
taken a while to build trust and to open up but now we are hearing the
most amazing stories both good and bad. We have been invited to go
work in Beirut and other troubled parts of the Middle East, which
strange as it may seem, feels quite an honour to be invited.
In April we will go to work in Kathmandu working with local aid
organisations and schools, bit further on from the Middle East I know
but we go where we are invited to work with the local communities.
Good luck with all your work Jen!
Connie,
I'm sure you will love Indonesia, I was in that part of the world
April this year offering Dynamic Theatre to drama educators for both
the Singapore and Malaysian Governments, I found everyone to be most
welcoming and very open to all forms of expressive arts. Most had a
very good awareness of Psychodrama and Sociodrama although they
necessarily didn't label it as such. A lot of "sacred drama" is used
in their ancient traditions, so I found that although we used
different names for it the "actions" were in essence the same.
Enjoy.
Best wishes and looking forward to meeting some of you, in person, in
Rome this week.

Work is already being done in countries that are primarily Muslim.
Bangladesh is 85% Muslim, and Herb Propper and I have been working
there dince 2003 using Psychodrama, Living Newspaper, Playback Theater
Sociodrama and other Expressive arts Therapies. Herb will be there
this fall for 5 mnths on a Fulbright scholarship and I will be going
back probably in March. Im hoping that others come too!

spark some interest in group work, psychodrama and
Souldrama. Does anyone know anything about this area of
the country? Being a Jersey girl, I could use some hints.
