Dear Peter,
In the US every state has its own licensure requirements. Most require a
master's degree with several thousand hours of supervised practice. Some
master's programs require a thesis; mine did. Others don't. But no one gets
their primary professional training in psychodrama anymore...it is usually
done at a post graduate institution. Or people get it before they go off to
graduate school, but the graduate degree is what allows them to be licensed,
not the psychodrama certification.
We are working with Empire State College to offer an undergraduate degree
that includes a lot of psychodrama, but this still will not entitle people
to work as a therapist...for that they will need their masters or higher in
social work, counseling, etc.
Rebecca
