aim high sociatry

Hi Ed,
    Yes, I plan to come to the ASGPP conference in Philadelphia, and hope we can get as many people (in and beyond the psychodrama community!) to join us;

.... but I would probably avoid this whole theme--i.e., your words: "My biggest hope is that we can come together to face the world, ourselves and one another - and bring the method more fully out."

I'm uncomfortable with an excess of urgency as this upsets me, evokes in me feelings of helplessness and guilt for not trying harder, doing more.
My conscious wise-self reality-testing part says I do a lot; and it's not clear at all what else I'm supposed to do. Another part of me says:
When in trouble or in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout!

But the first part says, well, hold your position and avoid confrontation. This is not the kind of thing that can be argued. So bless you and those who want to explore with you. Unless I can have a fairly clear idea of what coming together to face the world would pay off, and based on multiple times when I've asked for specifics and haven't felt that what has been said is useful, I think I'd leave this domain of effort for those who feel a bit more competent in the task. Warmly, Adam

  Adam,
  Will you be in Philadelphia?
My biggest hope is that we can come together to face the world, ourselves and one another - and bring the method more fully out.

Dear Ed, though I may seem to be critical in wanting to focus on specifics and being wary of generalized urgency, I also appreciate the maxim of Moreno (paraphrased): "I want to teach them to dream greater dreams" In this I am reminded of a poem:

    PRAYER FOR DREAMERS
         Vienna Cobb Anderson

We pray for the dreamers of this life, O God,
for those persons who imagine new possibilities,
Who long for what others cannot perceive,
who spin dreams of wonder and majesty in their minds.
Defend them from ridicule and harsh criticism,
From self-doubt and lack of faith in their dreams,
And from abandonment of this call to make things new.
    Grant that from their dreams
May come forth blessings for humankind
To enrich the quality of life
And the wonderment of us all. Amen

    Warmly, Adam
