brain and creativity

Hello, I've had a chance to reflect on Ann Hale 's comments on 4/15 on grouptalk:
I think it helps to think of the cultural conserve as the matrix , the linear, logical, intersecting of stories and experiences integrated linguistically and ready for recall that is the left hemisphere function of the brain; AND, the spontaneity and creativity processes and actions which get called out by the right hemisphere of the brain to get the body and sensory functions behind our intention to explore and warm-up to something unknown which we intuit is "out there" to be known, experienced and integrated. Ann Hale
AB: In a general sense, perhaps; but there are many creative moves that come with free-associating within the linguistic vocabulary, reaching for deeper meanings by word-roots (Talmudists do this a lot), and other play with language.
Second, much that is conserved is experienced in terms of images, via semiotics, symbols, the loaded and nonrational pull of symbolism that carries more weight than reason, so often right brain is very conserved.

so this right/left brain scheme may be a bit too coarse for our analysis. The implications at the end, though, I agree with.

 Warmly, adam
