Please make plans to join us for IDT's second workshop of the 2008/2009 season! The
October workshop includes a special component, a lecture presentation on Friday evening to
supplement the experiential learning of Saturday's exploration. In his
lecture/discussion, Landy will talk about his recent experience in Auschwitz with a group
of Germans, Israelis, Poles and Eastern Europeans, all exploring ways that the Holocaust
plays out in their present lives. Through this experience, the group discovered ways not
only to speak about the Holocaust, but to create rituals in Auschwitz to commemorate and
transform their embedded feelings. Discussion and dialogue with the audience will follow
Landy's talk.
In the workshop Robert will engage a group of students and professionals
in drama therapy and related fields to explore safe ways to explore the dark shadows cast
by the Holocaust. The group will create images of the Holocaust as it exists in the
present and search for ways to transform those images and discover meaning. The concept
of the guide will be invoked to facilitate that search. The workshop will include a
discussion of how this creative approach can be applied to a number of clinical and
social/political settings.
               > Participants may attend both sessions covered by the registration fee.
