Begin From Within: A Psychodrama Personal Growth Retreat
Led By: Linda Ciotola, M.Ed., CHES, CP/PAT
Joseph Kenna, Ph.D., LCPC, TEP
Catherine D. Nugent, LCPC, CP/PAT
Description
As psychodramatists, it is important that we know our personal strengths and vulnerabilities. This enables us to fully access our resources and to avoid letting personal issues interfere with our directing and/or auxiliary work. This weekend retreat, designed for psychodrama students and practitioners, is intended to provide a safe and supportive space for exploring personal issues that may interfere with accessing spontaneity in our work as psychodramatists. Protagonist- and group-centered work throughout the weekend will provide opportunities to experience psychodramas healing and personal growth benefits. Although the primary focus is on personal growth, all sessions will be processed, and there will be brief didactic components over the course of the weekend. Application of issues explored in sessions to participants work as director and auxiliary will be discussed.
Setting
The retreat is being held at Blue Mountain Retreat Center, a beautiful woodland setting in Knoxville, Maryland (16 miles west of Frederick, Maryland). The grounds feature panoramic views, walking trails, an organic garden, and many friendly deer. The retreat center has a hot tub, and optional massage sessions can be scheduled. There will be an optional yoga session on Saturday morning, and healthy meals, including vegetables from Blue Mountains garden, will be served throughout the weekend. Sleeping rooms are dormitory style with 2-3 to a room.
