Psychodrama with Adolescents, Substance Abusers & Other
Reluctant Clients
with Rebecca Walters, MS, LCAT, LMHC, TEP
December 4-6, 2008
Boughton Place, Highland, NY
Psychodramatic interventions that 'go with the resistance', honor defenses and are attuned to sociometry create the safety that help change barriers into open doors. This encourages individual and group warm up to spontaneity, healing and change. This workshop is especially useful for those working with adolescents, the chemically dependent and 'acting out' clients.
Together we will explore what is resistance? How does it get in the way? How does it serve us? How can we help our clients move beyond it? Participants will learn and practice: Sociometric exercises that that increase group cohesion and safety; The Use of the Empty Chair Doubling in group and individual work; The power of role reversal; Sociodrama. Participants will be taught a series of experiential structures that assist in helping reluctant clients make choices towards change.
Overnight accomodations and CEU's available.
Early registration discount available if you register by November 6, 2008.

Winter Psychodrama Directing Intensive:
Limited to Nine Participants
with Rebecca Walters, MS, LCAT, LMHC, TEP
NEW DATES!
January 15-19, 2009
Boughton Place
Highland, NY
This intensive is limited to 9 participants, each of whom will get to direct a full psychodrama.
The role of the director includes the producer, the social investigator, the group facilitator, the analyst/guide, the conflict manger, the sociometrist and more. This intensive will give advanced student directors the chance to explore these many functions. Each participant get to direct a full two-hour psychodrama group including warm up, action and sharing. Each will have the opportunity to be the protagonist in his or her own drama. There will be close to an hour devoted to processing each session with an emphasis on both theory and practice.
This training offers the chance to take a look at what you are doing that works well (and why it works!). We will also take a look at where you get stuck in the process of directing (and why you get stuck in that particular spot). As a group, we look at psychodrama theory and how it can inform our choices of action to further facilitate the drama. It gives you the chance to hone your craft as well as a safe place to be protagonist in your own drama.
For Advanced Students: Many advanced students bemoan the limited directing opportunities in their own training groups. Their directing experience is mainly on their jobs with group members of various functioning levels as well as varied experience with psychodrama. This intensive guarantees you a chance to direct a group of your peers. It is expected that you will have previously directed at least four psychodramas or have permission of trainer. The psychodrama community is rich with diversity of background and theoretical orientation. Because your fellow group members will have trained with a variety of trainers, discussions will be enriched by a variety perspectives and training backgrounds. It also offers a great practice session for your on-site for those of you who are getting close to certification.
For Certified Practitioners, PATs and TEPs: Many practitioners, having "graduated" from their training group, no longer have the opportunity to enjoy being part of a group, nor get the chance to be a protagonist in their own psychodrama. This intensive will give you the opportunity to do both, as well as to get role relief from being the one in charge, the director, the group leader. Come enjoy being a group member, and hone your craft all at the same time!
This training is for advanced psychodrama students (with at least 450 hours of training), Certified Practitioners, PATs and TEPs. Overnight accommodations available. This training provides 30 hours towards certification by the American Board of Examiners in Psychodrama, Sociometry and Group Psychotherapy..
For our early registration discount, register by December 16, 2008. Space is extremely limited, as the intensive is limited to 9 participants... so register early!
