JOB ANNOUNCEMENT:
Head of the Department of Counseling and Educational Psychology at MississippiStateUniversity. This is a 12 month tenure-track position that will begin on July 1, 2009.
Responsibilities include: Providing administrative and academic leadership for a department with more than 30 faculty and staff, more than 160 undergraduate students, and more than 250 graduate students. Facilitating communication within the department; conducting monthly departmental and coordinators’ meetings, meeting with the dean to represent the interests of the department; assisting with data collection for self-studies, departmental, college, and university reports.
Required Qualifications: An earned doctorate in one of the department program areas from an accredited university; qualify for tenure at the level of professor in the department; a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching, scholarly achievement in research, experience with technology. The applicant should be recognized for professional service at the national level; exhibit the ability to communicate and work effectively with others and across departmental disciplines; and recognize and honor governance policies and procedures while bringing a sense of vision to the department; and a commitment to working with a diverse population of students and faculty as well as working with diverse disciplines in both undergraduate and graduate programs through the doctoral level. Familiarity with NCATE and other accrediting organizations like CACREP, NASP, APA, and CORE is necessary.
